Historical background
It is thought to be the shortest and oldest Gospel, written by Mark—known as Peter's interpreter—for Gentile readers in Rome. The word 'immediately' appears often, and it dynamically portrays Jesus' actions and ministry. More than half of the Gospel deals with the last week of Jesus' life.
