Historical background
It is a short letter Jude, the brother of Jesus, wrote to the whole church. He had meant to write about salvation, but as the threat of false teachers grew urgent, it became a letter of warning. It is similar in content to 2 Peter chapter 2, warning of the judgment of false teachers with examples from the Old Testament and Jewish tradition.

Consider the meaning of the exhortation to 'contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.'
Look at how the Old Testament examples of judgment are used as warnings against false teachers.
Take assurance of God's protection from the beautiful confession of the closing benediction (verses 24-25).
