Historical background
It is the letter Paul wrote urgently when Judaizing teachers entered the Galatian churches and demanded that Gentile believers be circumcised and keep the law. In a grave situation where the essence of the gospel was under threat, Paul defends the truth of the gospel in a stronger tone than usual. It is called 'the Christian's declaration of freedom.'
What to watch for
Sort out how Paul explains the relationship between law and gospel, works and faith.
Meditate deeply on the meaning of 'I have been crucified with Christ' (2:20).
Consider what true freedom is through the fruit of the Spirit (5:22-23).
