Historical background
It records the prophecies and experiences of Jeremiah, who ministered for about forty years, from the thirteenth year of King Josiah until after the fall of Jerusalem. With Babylon's invasion looming, he cried out for repentance and surrender, but was refused. His painful ministry foreshadows, in some ways, the ministry of Jesus.
