Historical background
It holds the prophecies of Isaiah, who ministered in the southern kingdom of Judah for about sixty years, from King Uzziah to King Hezekiah. Amid the threat of Assyria, he proclaimed trust in God alone. It is so rich in messianic prophecy that it is called 'the Gospel of the Old Testament.'
