Historical background
It is the record of Daniel, carried off as an exile to Babylon, who served for about seventy years in the Babylonian and Persian empires. Chapters 1-6 hold the faith stories of Daniel and his friends, and chapters 7-12 hold apocalyptic visions of world history. Along with Revelation, it is one of the Bible's foremost works of apocalyptic literature.
